FEATURE FRUIT...
Passion Fruit is immenssely popular with the natives of countries where it grows. They eat it fresh and use it in juices of all varieties. In the U.S., it is a component in many tropical juice mixes and is also being used increasingly in gourmet desserts, ice cream, and sorbets as well as an ingredient in sauces and salsas for seafood and poultry. Named by 16th century Spanish for its beautiful flower, Passion refers to the
purple flower of the passion fruit "Flor de las cinco llagas" or "flower of the
five wounds" thought to resemble the five wounds of Christ.
Passion Fruit is harvested daily year-round although the harvest varies somewhat by season. The purple variety is grown primarily for consumption as fresh fruit; the yellow variety for processing into purees, juices and concentrates. While Passion Fruit is grown throughout the tropical and subtropical world, Ecuador is the #1 exporter of Passion Fruit products as well. Our Passion Fruit juice and juice concentrates are processed by AIB certified Quicornac, S.A. where a state-of-the-art aroma recovery system is in place. This process restores the important and characteristic sensory profile typical of the fresh Passion Fruit to the concentrate before it is packed and frozen. ITI is the exclusive distributo of Quicornac products in the U.S. For a tour of the Quicornac facility and more information about their products, they welcome your visit to their Web Site at www.quicornac.com ITI carries Quicornac products in frozen packs ranging from 5 gallon pails to 55 gallon drums.
Add some PASSION to your summer beverages. Try Passion Fruit Juice in your Iced
Tea instead of lemon or lime or, for a more elegant occasion, make
Passion Fruit Mimosas. Use Passion Fruit Juice instead of orange
juice with champaagne. Garnish with a fresh strawberry and enjoy! A perfect
spring brunch refresher!
