Lychee Puree

The lychee is considered, by some, to be the star of the fruit universe, with its lustrous fruity flesh, tropical-floral perfume and gentle flavor. Lychee puree is as out of the ordinary as is conceivable. It carries you to a far away place with its uniquely pleasing tropical and exotic fruit taste.

Tropical Lychee fruits are red, sometimes rose or even pinkish, and in some cases mottled with green. Most tropical lychee fruits are aromatic, ovoid to round shaped, about 1 in wide and 1 1/2 in long. They have a thin and rough, slightly warty skin, which is easily peeled. Beneath the skin is a clear, very tasty juice. The fruits flesh is succulent, thick, pearly to pinkish, which usually separates easily from the seed, very similar to a grape. The flavor of the tropical fruit is subacid and very unique.

Did you know? Lychee fruit is most commonly used in fruit cups and salads. Lychee fruit can also be stuffed with cottage cheese and served with salad topped with dressing and pecans for a unique tropical fruit dish!
